Rodopa
(2026)

The Rodopa meat factory known as Sofia slaughterhouse was built in 1934. The building is considered a prime example of early Bulgarian Modernist architecture.
Before 1989, Rodopa was the only state-owned company that supplied the population of Bulgaria with meat and meat products. It went bankrupt in the 90s and was privatized. Since then, the buildings have mostly stood empty, used occasionally as warehouses and, more recently, left to crumble.

In 2022, the Ministry of Culture recognised the significance of the site and designated it a single immovable cultural asset of national importance from the modern era.In the last 4 years we used the empty building as a playground. The common body of work is presented in the upcoming book, along with the history of the place. Inside you will find archive footage, architecture, design, photography and tons of pieces by us and our guests.
